Hey Pete! Congratulations to you for the new album! Please tell us about the developing process of “Out for blood”. It took you quite a long time since the last album “Haunting Remains”.
Hello and thank you, we are very happy about the final product too! Yes, well the interesting fact is that all OFB songs were ready before the debut hit the stores in December ’04.
During ’05-’06 we decided to left from the previous label as well as we were busy doing the new Burning Point record.
We recorded a 5 track promo-cd in 2007 with me still in vocals and we got very positive reaction from the labels, but everyone of them wanted to hear the final cd.
Again, there was a Burning Point studio sessions that postponed the GM sessions. I also got this idea that maybe we could try a different vocalist and Taage was my first choice.
We finished the lyrics and Taage came to town to lay down his vocals in the fall ’09. We were fortunate and we got quite a few offers from the different labels and in the end we decided to take the offer from the Limb Music.
The Artwork of “Out for blood” is quite amazing. Who had the idea?
Oh yes, it is great! Actually that picture has been around for quite some time, we only wanted to change the colouring to match the debut album’s “mood”. Artist is Rainer Kalwitz and the name of that picture is “Death Valley”, you can check the original from the internet :)
What are your main musical influences?
Roots are from the 80’s metal Accept, Judas Priest, Helloween etc.but also from the AOR/Hardrock side like Toto, Bon Jovi, Foreigner etc.
What are your self- defined trademarks and how do you separate yourself from other bands of this genre?
This is a thing i don’t think at all! I only try to write as great songs as i can. I leave that side totally to others to judge ;=)
For the song “Guilty” you worked with Olaf Lenk from “At Vance”. How did you get in contact with him?
It was by Facebook, surprise! Hah hah.
The final track “Send Me An Angel” is a cover from 80s Southern Rockers “Blackfoot”. Why did you chose this song?
It is just one of those songs that i’ve always wanted to make a cover version. Great song and a great album!
The year 2010 is nearly over, so please tell us your 3 favourite records in this year.
Obviously our album is one of them! There are lots of great releases in this year, very hard to chooce only 3...hmm, maybe Accept and Pretty Maids.
What are your plans in future? Are there any chances to see you live in Germany as well?
We are trying our very best to get live dates over there too, but it all depends on the album sales...We already have 10 songs ready for the next record, we need to see how things are developing...
Last but not least – please give me your first associations to the following topics:
The Scorpions – Sad that they quit.
Ronnie James Dio? – HUGE loss for the world of metal!
Ghost Machinery in 10 years? – Selling millions of records ;=)
Wacken Open Air-Festival – One of the dream places to play
Thanks a lot for your time – any last words to the readers of metalglory.de?
Thank you very much for this interview! Thaks also to our fans out there and hopefully see you on tour!
All the best,
Pete
